7 Quick Takes: Camera Roll Edition

Hello everybody.  Can you believe next week is Holy Week?  Lent seemed to be going by so slowly — and all of a sudden, we are reaching the end.

I am currently in the process of building a new website for my husband’s business, so blogging has taken a back seat this week.  This post is truly going to live up to the name “Quick Takes”.

I recently was clearing out my camera roll and came across a bunch of funny pictures taken mostly by my kids. I love seeing what interests them — except for when my four year old takes bursts of 50 pictures at a time of things like toilet paper rolls or blurry ceiling shots. I’ve been working to delete all those lately 🙁

Anyway I’m calling this my 7 Quick Takes: Camera Roll Edition.  Don’t try to gather any profound truths from this post — there are none to be found.  🙁 Hopefully, they’re good for a laugh or two.    On to the Quick Takes:

The World’s Most Unflattering Selfies

One of the things that I love about kids — the more unflattering their picture, the better they seem to like it.  Here’s a few I found that must have been from a few years back.  They’re funny reminders of what little characters these kids are.

Not selfie, but still funny.

Bad Hair Days

We all have them — bad hair days.  My four year old is especially prone to the most amazing nests of knots in her hair.  Recently, it got so bad that I finally did some research (thanks Facebook friends), bought some product and a hairbrush, strategically cut out what was beyond salvaging, and finally managed to tame her crazy locks.

Here’s a few of the recent bad hair days and then a shot after all my hard work.  I resolve to never go back to those days of out of control dread locks.  So far, so good.

Bad hair days — she’s had a few.
No matter what I tried, I couldn’t get that large patch of knots to sit flat on her head. 🙁
After lots of time spent in a bath tub with a bottle of conditioner and a few strategic cuts — voila!  A bit wet in the picture, but you get the idea.

Random Pictures of Yummy Food

Looked so good, I had to take a picture. Sadly, my baby smushed it when I wasn’t looking. 🙁

This is a very sad picture, because I never got to eat that cupcake.  I was out with family and instead of eating my dessert with little kids climbing all over me, I decided to put it back in its cute little cellophane bag and save it for later.  I prefer to hide away in a corner of my house and eat my desserts child-free — how about you?

Anyway, just as we were getting up, I looked down to see my baby smushing my cupcake — the frosting was stuck to the cellophane bag.  🙁  I still planned to eat it later, but as I walked outside of the store, a homeless man approached me for some money.

I didn’t have money, so I offered him my smushed cupcake instead.  Well, he took me up on the offer and so I’ll never know how that cupcake tasted — I bet it was good.

Fireworks!

This was the first time my baby saw fireworks.  He was absolutely mesmerized by them — though I don’t think he was sure  he liked them.  It was all very confusing to him.  Here’s his first summer fireworks experience.

What is all that noise about?….
Not exactly sure if I like this or not…it’s strangely mesmerizing.

The Duplo Baby

My son used his little brother as a model for his Duple creation.  I think he did a pretty good job.

Building…

As I sat down for breakfast the next day, I felt a dark presence in the room with me.  I looked up and almost screamed — until I realized it was just the Duplo baby.  Phew!

Wouldn’t want to run into him in a dark alley…

Despite the scare, I love their creativity.  I just don’t want to run into that Duplo baby in a dark alley — it’s way creepier in the dark.  I’m still having nightmares about it.  🙁

Glamour Shots

There are just too many baby glamour shots to choose from.  One thing is for sure, this baby is adored by everybody!  Here’s a few of my recent favorites.  Baby’s are the best!

I just love a baby in glasses.
Looking good…

Memes

My kids use my phone for their social media posts.  So I’m always finding random memes in my camera roll.  I just find it so interesting to see what they find funny enough to post for their friends.  Anyway, here are a few of them.

Update:  If you read this at 1am, you saw the memes.  Since then it occurred to me that because I couldn’t cite their original sources, I might be infringing on photo rights.  So I had to remove them — believe me, not profound enough to merit being sued. 🙁

Anyway, in their place, I offer you a few creative projects my own kids created during the many hours of driving that happens in our week.  Hey, at least they’re doing something productive with all that time.  🙁

My daughter has no idea how ironic this picture is. Set a depressing mood and then put a happy quote on top of it.

This one is an interesting take on old time sitcoms:

It’s the Opie Show…

Not amused.  Hopefully this is not you reading my post. 🙁

Anyway, have a great weekend… and I hope you’re Holy Week is truly beautiful!

    1. Kathleen,
I know, and I used to just give up after a while — because one night’s sleep would undo all my hard work to get those knots out of her head. Fortunately, I found a tangle teaser brush and leave-in conditioner works wonders — and it only took 6 kids to figure that out. 🙂

  1. I never eat dessert unless no one is on, or preferably, near me! So, sadly I rarely eat desserts…but it’s so much nicer when I do. That is one of my only “me” times I stick to. Momma don’t like sharing chocolate anything…love you Moira!

    1. Yep, on Sundays of Lent I’ve been known to sneak away and buy a slice of the most amazing chocolate cake known to man — too expensive to buy a whole cake — so it has to be done on the sly. I get you, sister!
P.S.John, if you’re reading this, I’m sorry I never offered to split the piece –but I know chocolate is just not as much your thing. But the kids did tell me that you went for ice cream last Sunday when I was off with the girls — so I guess we all have our secrets. 🙂

  2. Love those pictures! I feel so bad for your daughter and her hair. My mom made me keep my hair short until I could take care of it myself. I don’t think she had that rule for my 5 sisters, though. {Insert puzzled look here}

    1. Yes Mary,
little girl hair is tough! That being said, I had no idea what a difference having a little leave-in conditioner and the tangle teaser brush could make. Yay for facebook friends enlightening me. 🙂
