Who Is Ready For An Adventure?

Happy Easter! Family is in town and events are happening, but I had to take the time to invite you to join me and some great ladies from Instagram for a 90 Day Bible Adventure beginning May 1st.

The goal is to read the 14 Narrative books of the Bible that give the overall picture of salvation history and, ultimately, gain insight into our own salvation story as well.

It will take 90 days and I am excited to see what the Holy Spirit is going to do with all of this.

Who wants to join me in this adventure?

I took my inspiration from the Great Adventure Bible I bought from Ascension Press. (This is not a sponsored post by the way. I just really love it.)

It had the 90 day plan and other supplemental information and I just thought it would be a great thing to join other busy women (and men, too) and try to really dive deep into understanding the big picture of our salvation story.

Jeff Cavins’ Bible Timeline Great Adventure program served as inspiration for this 90 Day Bible Adventure.

What we are trying to do is a much more pared-down version, because, frankly, we don’t have the time to dive into the supplemental videos and reading at this point in our busy lives.

We are going to just follow the 90 day scripture plan and see what the Holy Spirit does with all of it.

These 14 books will help us to have a more comprehensive view of the greatest Love Story the world has ever known, and it seems entirely worth it to take the time to immerse ourselves in it.

So please join us!

I highly recommend this Bible from Ascension Press.

The “why” of all of this is because I want to know Jesus better, and maybe you do, too.

As St. Jerome so aptly said, “Ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Christ”.

I want to know Christ better.

I want to know that Love He has for me and I want to develop a deep comfort with holding a Bible in my hand and being able to really encounter Christ in His Word.

What better reason to begin this 90 day adventure?

The “how” is by immersing ourselves in His Word — the story of His amazing, undying love for us — and being open to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit as we take this 90 day journey together.

Heres the 90 day plan.

All you need is one good Bible, a prayerful attitude and an openness to what the Holy Spirit has in store for you.

I personally prefer the RSV translation, but the NAB version is also a very good version to have, as the Mass readings are the NAB version.

The plan is to follow the timeline above and read 4 chapters of scripture a day and see where it takes us.

For me, I am going to simply substitute the daily readings that are part of my morning prayer and use the Timeline plan, instead.

The “when” is May 1st – July 29th. It begins with the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker and ends with the Feast of St. Martha — which I have to say feels very appropriate.

Who knew Jesus better than Joseph and Mary? St. Joseph is also the Universal Patron of the Catholic Church and terror of demons, so that’s a plus.

So happy he can walk with us on this path to knowing his adopted Son better.

And Martha? Well, let’s be honest, sometimes we worry more about “doing” than about “being” and we can get lost in all of our work and busyness.

Martha is somebody who had the same struggles and learned to chose the better portion. I want to learn to choose the better portion, too.

I want to learn to begin and end all my work with Jesus. I want to learn to sit at His feet and listen, rather than just bulldozing my way through things (and making a royal mess, I might add).

I think this 90 day journey will teach us that invaluable lesson. I think it will teach us to learn to be still in a world that keeps telling us to “Go!Go!Go!”

Finally, I want to learn to love the people around me better, and Who better to teach us that than Love Itself?

So who is with me?

You can follow on Instagram or My Facebook page on Wednesdays where I will be sharing short video clips on the “Stories” feature with more specifics and hopefully sharing insights along the way.

Links are at the bottom of the post.

Comment below or on my social media so I can include you in the prayer list.

Please join in the discussion, because I have a feeling that the community aspect of this is really important as well.

I’m getting excited to begin this adventure.

I hope you will join us!

Adventure awaits…who’s in?

I’m really horrible about following through with daily reading plans – but having one is better than not having one, at least, as it gives me some direction. So thanks for sharing this! I think I’ll give it a try 🙂

I’m going to put you on the list — I have the same struggles, but I think with the ladies that are messaging me already, we would have a great group to keep each other going!

I don’t have instagram but am able to see your instagram posts and the comments. Thanks for your commentary. I am also not the best at following through and 90 day seemed daunting at first but I downloaded the chart and it’s only a few chapters a day – definitely doable. Looking forward to your and other posters’ insights. Today for me Chapter 4 Verse 7 about mastering sin … that one stood out to me.
