Don’t Cancel People…Love Them!
Let me say this right up front, I have “cancelled” people in my life before — so I completely get it! I get the frustration, the anger the absolutely mystifying behavior that makes you want to “cancel” somebody — to write them off, to give up hope and try to forget they exist — I get it! But here is the thing: WE DON’T CANCEL PEOPLE. WE LOVE THEM! At least, we try to love them, the best we can. If you claim to be a Christian or anybody of good will in this world, you have to see that cancelling somebody is wrong. We cancel THINGS: like subscriptions or…

In God’s Plan of Salvation, We Are All Essential Workers
There are some amazing people out in the world doing amazing things right now to address the challenges we are facing. They have been deemed “essential” and rightly so! Shout-out to all the essential workers out there! You are amazing! But it’s so good to remember that, in God’s plan of salvation, each one of us is essential. We all have a unique part to play in reflecting His love and Light in the world. In fact, we are irreplaceable! There are some people who simply won’t experience God’s love if you or I fail to love them. That’s how crucial we are to God’s plans. The truth is, your…

You Were Not Made for Comfort
It seems many Christians have forgotten Jesus’ command, to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel”. It’s understandable, really, when so many of us have so much to do and we can barely handle what is on our own plates. It’s hard to imagine adding sharing the gospel with the entire world to our never-ending “to do” list. Nonetheless, Jesus did command those who love Him to share the gospel with the entire world — and it should make us feel a bit uncomfortable when we evaluate our own response to that command. Before I was married, I was traveling the country sharing the good news about sex…

Making Sense of Suffering
I begin this post on a day that I am wrestling to make sense of the tragic death of a young mother — a faithful Catholic, getting ready to jump into her minivan of little kids and head off to Ash Wednesday Mass. There are no words. Please pray for her soul and for her family. I must admit my first response was “Why her”? Why does a beautiful young mother with young children who desperately need her, tragically die on the way out to Mass? It just doesn’t make sense. Her mother and father are model Catholics, faithfully living out the Gospel and serving the poorest of the poor.…

Will He Find Faith? A.K.A. What’s Next?
We all survived our Irish pilgrimage — hip, hip, hooray — but the transition back has had it’s challenges. Not going to lie, I am also missing Ireland a bit — I wasn’t expecting to miss it like I do. It was a grace-filled time, and when a time of grace comes to an end, it is challenging to enter into “ordinary life” again — whatever that is. Honestly, I knew it would be beautiful and we would have fun as a family, but I was worried that the faith would be missing from our trip to Ireland. I wondered if all the priests would just be going through the…
