To Be a Woman is a GIFT
To be a woman is a GIFT, and I just wish every woman would realize just how much of a gift it is.
I wish I could convince her that her femininity and her unique feminine genius should be cherished and embraced and shared with others.
There are some forces in the world that seem to be intent upon hiding the glory that it is to be a woman — who try to keep women from truly embracing what makes them different from men and instead tries to force us into some warped idea of what it means to be a woman.
They stand to benefit from manipulating women into doing what they want or in buying something they have convinced us we “need” in order to be “happy” in the world.
Please don’t let the world convince you that your worth is in how you look, in job titles or your net worth. You are so much more than that!
As St. Edith Stein points out, women, in a very unique way, are equipped to shelter other souls within them — not just their own babies, but also the souls of the people who are blessed to be friends and family to them.
Don’t let the world harden your beautiful heart — allow it to remain soft and kind and gentle.
Embrace that beautiful heart God gave you. Embrace your unique ability to nurture the good, the true and the beautiful and to bring out what is best in the people around you.
Ironically, the more we embrace what makes us different — what makes us WOMEN — the more we will begin to discover an unshakeable JOY in our lives — the type of joy that can coexist with sadness, pain or disappointment — the kind of joy we find in Christ alone.
That kind of JOY begins with prayer, and through prayer we begin to hear that still, small voice within us telling us we are unique, unrepeatable miracles and God’s plan for our lives is beautiful, indeed.
I really hope you make time to listen to God’s plan for your lives. I hope you take the time to understand what makes you different than men, and then I hope you go out into the world and share those gifts and your unfathomable ability to love with everyone you meet.
In a world of cheap imitations, be an original. Be that unique Saint God created you to be! Hooray for being a woman!
Happy Weekend!
