Does Happily Ever After Really Exist?

    November 8, 2019 /

Who doesn’t want to be married happily ever after? I know that I did. Nobody goes into marriage wanting it to fail — unless the person was only after money or fame or notoriety — but that wasn’t actually a marriage in the first place. That was just a legal contract with some benefits attached to it. I am talking about the majority of people who get married. Most people enter into a marriage because they love someone and want to spend the rest of their life with that someone — to begin a new life with them. They are in it for the right reasons. So why do 50%…

It All Comes Back to a Theology of the Body

    May 18, 2018 /

Once upon a time, I traveled around the country giving chastity talks.  For some reason, as I sat down to write a conclusion to the two previous posts on NFP, one of the more unique chastity talks I ever gave came to mind. Let me set the stage for you.  We were invited to give a talk at a Catholic college in Louisiana.  It was a mandatory talk for all the fraternities and sororities on campus.  That in itself made for an interesting setting. We were pleasantly surprised by the incredibly enthusiastic frat boys, who came running up to fill the front rows of the room.  They were just so…

Herculaneum, Memento Mori, and Striking Out Against the Darkness

    January 19, 2018 /

Today is a somber day.  It’s a day when we remember the 59 million babies aborted since Roe V. Wade.  It’s also a day where we remember their mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers.  It’s a sad day for many. Last year, I wrote this post about Why We March.  If you want to know why we march, please read that post.  There is no judgement here, only love. If you regret your abortion, please know God wants to heal you and bring you past that hurt.  He loves you — always has and always will!  For more information on healing, start here. Like I said, it’s a somber day,…

Close Calls, Liam Neeson & The Danger of Busy

    October 20, 2017 /

On our recent pilgrimage to Spain, “close calls” seemed to be one of the themes of the trip. We began our trip with a close call with a terrorist attack in Barcelona. We moved on to a close call with a firecracker. There we were, watching an amazing display of fireworks in San Sebastián. I was literally turning to put my baby into our stroller when this blazing ember flew past us, hit the stroller, and proceeded to fall directly in the seat and burn a few serious holes in it!  Could have done without that excitement. Then there was our last day in San Sebastián. We decided to hike up…
